This controller is the standard choice for substations in multi-family buildings, small commercial premises, schools, boiler rooms — where separate control of heating supply (weather-compensated) AND domestic hot water is required. The program is written via the connected ECL Application Key (e.g. A266 — heating + DHW); the same physical device works in dozens of configurations.
Modbus RTU communication allows integration into a building management system (BMS) or remote monitoring platforms (e.g. Danfoss ECL Portal), while the ECL 485 bus connects several ECL controllers into a single network.

No. ECL 210 physically has 2-circuit hardware. If 3 circuits are needed (e.g. radiators + underfloor + DHW), choose ECL 310 (087H3040) with an A368 or A377 key.
Yes. 087H3020 is the controller only — it will not operate without an A-key. For a complete kit with key and sensors, choose 087H3104 (ECL 210 kit with A266 key).
ECL 296 has the same functionality as ECL 210 plus M-Bus communication (for heat meter reading). If M-Bus is not needed — ECL 210 is the more economical choice.
ECL 210 supports settings copy via the ECL Application Key — all parameters can be transferred to a new controller by inserting the same key. Additionally, Danfoss ECL Portal allows cloud backup when the controller is connected via Modbus.
Formally, any Class A PT1000 sensor (1000 Ω @ 0 °C, EN 60751) is compatible. In practice, we recommend Danfoss ESM/ESMT/ESMU — verified compatibility with ECL algorithms, cable length and time constants.
