Designer note: the ECL Application Key is sold separately — 087H3020 is the controller only. Most common keys: A266 (heating + DHW, code 087H3800), A260 (2 × heating groups, 087H3801), A230 (heating with storage tank). Before ordering, verify the controller firmware is at least version 1.11 — otherwise the latest keys will not work.

Frequently asked questions

Can ECL 210 control 3 circuits?

No. ECL 210 physically has 2-circuit hardware. If 3 circuits are needed (e.g. radiators + underfloor + DHW), choose ECL 310 (087H3040) with an A368 or A377 key.

Do I need to buy the application key separately?

Yes. 087H3020 is the controller only — it will not operate without an A-key. For a complete kit with key and sensors, choose 087H3104 (ECL 210 kit with A266 key).

What's the difference between ECL 210 and ECL 296?

ECL 296 has the same functionality as ECL 210 plus M-Bus communication (for heat meter reading). If M-Bus is not needed — ECL 210 is the more economical choice.

How to back up settings?

ECL 210 supports settings copy via the ECL Application Key — all parameters can be transferred to a new controller by inserting the same key. Additionally, Danfoss ECL Portal allows cloud backup when the controller is connected via Modbus.

Can non-Danfoss sensors be used?

Formally, any Class A PT1000 sensor (1000 Ω @ 0 °C, EN 60751) is compatible. In practice, we recommend Danfoss ESM/ESMT/ESMU — verified compatibility with ECL algorithms, cable length and time constants.
