Plate heat exchangers offer exceptional compactness and high heat transfer efficiency, allowing even the most complex B2B heating and cooling systems to be optimised.
The industry standard for the units we offer is AISI 316L (low carbon) stainless steel. Thanks to its low carbon content it is highly resistant to intergranular corrosion, which is especially important for ensuring the long-term operation of copper-brazed or welded heat exchangers. In specific conditions (swimming pools with salt water, coastal zones, aggressive industrial media), we supply heat exchangers made of titanium to special order.
Heat exchanger performance depends directly on the plate pattern (chevron / herringbone). Choosing a High Θ profile gives very high heat transfer (high flow turbulence), but creates greater hydraulic resistance. A Low Θ profile, on the other hand, has a longer and smoother channel, resulting in a lower pressure drop.
When should I choose a brazed (BPHE) and when a gasketed (GPHE) heat exchanger?
Brazed units (BPHE) are ideal for small and medium systems (up to ~1500 kW) where compactness is required. Gasketed units (GPHE) are chosen for large systems (10-40 MW) where regular cleaning is necessary or capacity expansion is planned.
How do copper-brazed units differ from "Coresist" or "AlfaNova"?
Standard copper-brazed units are suitable for ordinary heating systems. In corrosive media (aggressive tap water, ammonia), copper-free alternatives must be used - Alfa Laval AlfaNova or SWEP Coresist.
