Where LC110-40-2 is used

Hexonic LC110 — C size (larger than B) plate exchanger, plates ~466 × 258 mm. The 40-plate pack is used in large-capacity central heating substations, industrial heat recovery processes, chiller primary loop separation, commercial buildings, and large-scale district heating consumer stations. G 2" connections support high flow rates (up to ~20-25 m³/h).

Heat transfer capacity — quick calculation

General formula: P = Q × ΔT × 1.163 (kW, Q m³/h, ΔT °C). LC110 plates are sized for higher flows — G 2" connections handle up to ~25 m³/h of water with acceptable Δp.

Example for heating mode (primary 90/70 °C → secondary 65/40 °C): at Q ≈ 12.0 m³/h and effective ΔT ≈ 20 °C → P ≈ 280 kW. At 25 °C ΔT, capacity scales proportionally.

Designer note: LC110 series — larger plate area, suited for high capacity at moderate Δp. For very high flows (>25 m³/h) consider LC170 or LM110 (micro-channel). The PN 25 bar limit is critical for district heating networks with potential water hammer — assess hydraulic transients.

Frequently asked questions

How does LC110 differ from LB60?

LC110 has larger plate area (~466 × 258 mm), designed for higher flows and higher capacity. LB60 — mid-capacity, more compact, G 5/4" connections. Choose LC110 when capacity is >250 kW or flow >10 m³/h.

Can glycol mixtures be used?

Yes, up to 50 % ethylene or propylene glycol with appropriate inhibitors.

What maintenance is required?

Brazed construction — no disassembly needed. CIP flushing every 3-5 years if fouling signs appear.

Is it suitable for potable water?

Yes. AISI 316L plates and copper brazing meet WRAS/DVGW requirements.

Is insulation needed?

APFI series insulation shell is recommended — fits LC110 plate count groups (10-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80, 81-100).
