Have questions?
TL;DR: IMI TA Hydronics DA-616 DN25 Kvs 10 — higher-load automatic differential pressure (Δp) controller for commercial substations and central multi-family heating headers. Constant Δp without electrical control, suits loads up to ~150 kW.
  • Application: constant Δp on a higher-load substation branch
  • DN: 25 — higher-load DA-616 variant
  • Kvs: 10 m³/h — suits ~80-150 kW heating load
  • Autonomy: hydraulic operation, no electrics

Where DA-616 DN25 Kvs 10 is used

Designed for higher-load heat substations — commercial buildings, high-rise blocks, schools, hotels. Ensures constant Δp across a larger consumer branch when individual users (floors, zones) have their own control devices (thermostatic heads, PICV valves) and must not disturb each other's hydraulic conditions.

Capacity — quick calculation

Water flow: Q = Kvs × √Δp. Heat capacity: P = Q × ΔT × 1.163.

Example: setting Δp = 0.3 bar (30 kPa) → Q = 10 × √0.3 ≈ 5.48 m³/h. With ΔT = 20 °C → P ≈ 127 kW.

Designer note: when choosing DN25, verify hydraulic authority β: Δp_valve / Δp_controlled_branch ≥ 0.5. If the total branch pressure drop (heating branch + thermostatic valves) is below 30 kPa, DN25 Kvs 10 may be oversized — consider DN20 Kvs 8 (52-861-020).

When to choose DA-616 DN25 Kvs 10

  • Commercial/office buildings up to ~150 kW heating load
  • High-rise multi-family heating headers
  • Schools, hotels with a shared heating network branch
  • When extra reserve for future expansion is required

Frequently asked questions

Can it be used on the primary district heating loop?

No. DA-616 is designed for the consumer side (secondary loop). The primary DH loop typically uses different regulators (usually PICV — combined flow and Δp controllers, e.g. Danfoss AVQM or IMI TA-Modulator series).

What are the maintenance requirements?

DA-616 essentially requires no periodic maintenance. A Y-strainer (500 μm) upstream is recommended for debris protection. A functional test every 5 years is advised — to check the Δp setpoint has not drifted.

Can the setpoint be changed after installation?

Yes. The setpoint is adjusted with a handle without system shutdown. Adjustment is best done at nominal operating conditions so the result reflects real regulation.

How does DA-616 interact with room thermostatic valves?

Thermostatic valves regulate flow, DA-616 regulates pressure drop. Together they form a stable control loop: when a thermostatic valve closes (room reaches setpoint), DA-616 holds the same Δp for the other thermostats, so they do not shift their operating point. Result — uniform heat distribution across the whole riser.
