HVAC sensors for temperature and humidity measurement

Reliable temperature measurement and humidity control are the basis of an efficient HVAC system. In our range you will find solutions adapted to industrial, commercial and apartment-building projects. Important: this category is basic temperature and humidity measuring equipment; CO2 / air quality (VOC) sensors are selected individually according to the specific project requirements.

Temperature sensors

We offer a wide range of temperature sensors for different installation environments and controller types:

  • Danfoss ESM series (Pt1000): ESM-10 (room), ESM-11 (surface / clamp-on pipe), ESMT (outdoor) and ESMU-100 (immersion, into a pocket).
  • Ouman (NTC10 elements): TMO (outdoor), TMS (duct) and TMW / TMR (room).
  • Siemens: the popular QAD22 is exclusively a surface sensor, fixed onto the pipe (the QAM series is recommended for duct measurement).

Humidity sensors

For precise maintenance of relative humidity in rooms and ventilation systems we offer proven Honeywell solutions. The range features the AF20 (duct humidity sensors) and SF20 (room humidity sensors), ensuring stable operation even in demanding environments.

Pt1000 vs NTC10 compatibility and wiring schemes

During a system upgrade or design it is essential to ensure that the sensor element meets the controller's requirements:

  • CRITICAL WARNING (Renovation): New-generation Danfoss ECL 210, 296 and 310 controllers support ONLY Pt1000 sensors. If you leave the old Ni1000 or NTC elements during a heat substation renovation, the system simply will not work.
  • Wiring: Basic HVAC systems most often use the 2-wire standard, because with Pt1000 the effect of cable resistance on the measurement is relatively small. However, for longer runs a 3-wire connection is recommended, which effectively compensates for the line resistance and maintains measurement accuracy (4-wire systems are found only in laboratories).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

1. Can I swap a surface sensor and an immersion sensor?
Not recommended. Surface sensors (e.g. ESM-11 or QAD22) have a special flat contact surface to sit snugly against the pipe. Immersion sensors (ESMU-100) are installed into protective pockets and provide considerably faster and more accurate measurement directly in the liquid flow.

2. Why choose Pt1000 over older standards?
Pt1000 (platinum resistance) sensors provide high linearity, stability and accuracy over a wide temperature range. It is the modern industry standard supported by most modern HVAC automation systems.

Proper temperature measurement and quick HVAC diagnostics start with accurate equipment. If you are unsure about controller compatibility or need project-specific sensor selection, contact the Amegata.lt team - we will help you find the best technical solution.
