Have questions?
TL;DR: Danfoss AMV 10 — compact 3-point electric actuator for 2-way and 3-way control valves. Designed for district heating substation user branches — maintaining setpoint temperature in heating loops.
  • Application: control valve positioning in heating loops
  • Thrust: 300 N
  • Power / control signal: 230 V AC / 3-point
  • Running time / IP: 14 s/mm (5 mm stroke = ~70 s) / IP54

Where AMV 10 is used

AMV 10 is typically chosen for small-to-medium heating loop control — district heating substation user branches, retrofitted zone control points, and technical rooms of family houses. It pairs with Danfoss VRB / VRG series valves (DN 15–32) where 300 N thrust and 5 mm stroke are sufficient. A precise 3-point signal from the controller (Danfoss ECL, Ouman etc.) allows the actuator to maintain the setpoint supply temperature per the outdoor compensation curve.

Designer note: AMV 10 is a 3-point control actuator without spring-return function. If the system requires a 0–10 V analogue (modulating) signal — choose the AME series (e.g., AME 10). If automatic fail-safe close on power loss is required — use AMV 13 (spring-return) or ABNM. Cable length is not factory-specified — install per site requirements.

When to choose AMV 10

  • Heating loop temperature control in a district heating user branch (~30–90 kW)
  • 3-way mixing valve control for underfloor heating or radiator loops
  • Zone heating control in small commercial or public buildings
  • When standard 14 s/mm running time is adequate (slow outdoor T changes)
  • Compatibility: Danfoss VRB 2/VRB 3 (DN 15–32) and VRG 2/VRG 3 (DN 15–32) control valves; works with Danfoss ECL, Ouman EH/S203 and any controller providing 3-point output

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 3-point and 0–10 V control?

3-point — the actuator receives discrete "open / close / stop" pulses; position is set by pulse duration. 0–10 V (modulating) — the actuator receives an analogue signal and positions itself proportionally. AMV 10 supports 3-point only. For modulating control, choose a Danfoss AME series equivalent.

Does AMV 10 have a fail-safe (spring return) function?

No. On power loss the actuator stays in its current position. If the system requires automatic closing on power loss — choose AMV 13 (with spring) or add a UPS.

What are the allowed mounting positions?

AMV actuators may be mounted vertically above the valve or horizontally, but not head-down (risk of condensate entering the mechanism). Leave at least 100 mm free space above the cover for service access.

Can the control cable be extended?

Yes. The 3-point signal line can be extended by several tens of metres using 3×1.5 mm² (or 3×2.5 mm² for longer runs) cable. Power and signal wires should be routed through separate cores or in an EMC-shielded cable.

Will it fit as a direct replacement for a failed AMV 10?

Yes — 082G3001 is a like-for-like replacement for same-series actuators. Mounting interface and calibration are compatible with all VRB/VRG valve heads.
