Does the ML7430E1005 have a spring return (fail-safe)?

No — this model is non-spring return. On power loss the valve stays at its last position. If a spring return is required by the project (e.g. AHU coil frost protection), pick ML7420 or ML7420E with spring return.

What mounting orientation is allowed?

ML7430E1005 can be mounted in any orientation except stem pointing downward (the motor body must sit above the horizontal centreline of the valve). Vertical mounting is preferred — it reduces moisture / condensate collecting on internal mechanics.
