Have questions?
TL;DR: Schneider Electric SpaceLogic (Forta series) M800 — higher-force modulating linear actuator for Schneider V241, V311 and V321 2-way / 3-way globe valves DN25-DN100. Designed for HVAC, domestic hot water (DHW) and cooling systems in commercial buildings and larger district heating substations.
  • Application: modulating actuation of medium-to-large globe valves in commercial BMS installations
  • Force: 800 N; stroke up to 52 mm (15/20/30 s by stroke)
  • Power / control: 24 V AC/DC, 0-10 V DC (switchable 2-10 / 0-5 / 5-10 V) or 3-point
  • Runtime / IP: 15 s (9-25 mm), 20 s (25-32 mm), 30 s (32-52 mm), IP54

Where SpaceLogic M800 is used

SpaceLogic (Forta) M800 is selected for higher-load control valves — commercial buildings, industrial installations, larger substations and central cooling systems where 800 N force and wider stroke (up to 52 mm) are needed with medium-to-large DN globe valves. It is a standard pick with Schneider V241 (DN25-DN100 2-way), V311 and V321 (3-way) globe valves.

The brushless DC motor with microprocessor control delivers long service life without sensor wear. Field-selectable control signal (0-10 / 2-10 / 0-5 / 5-10 V DC or 3-point) lets the same actuator work in modern SpaceLogic BMS installations and in retrofit projects with Danfoss ECL, Siemens Climatix, Trend IQ or older Ouman controllers.

CompatibilitySchneider V241 (2-way) DN25-DN100, V311, V321 (3-way) DN25-DN80; legacy VB-7xxx via AV-821, VB-9313 DN65-DN100 via AV-822 adaptor
Designer note: M800 vs M400 — the differences are force (800 vs 400 N) and maximum stroke (52 vs 32 mm). Pick M800 when valve DN ≥ 40 or when Δp at the control point approaches the valve's maximum close-off pressure — the lower-force M400 may stall against high pressure and fail to seal fully. VB-9313 DN65-DN100 valves need a separate AV-822 adaptor (Schneider F-27702).

When to choose SpaceLogic M800

  • Commercial HVAC and cooling system high-load control valves (DN40 and larger)
  • Substations with high Δp at the control point (district heating primary side, process systems)
  • Domestic hot water (DHW) medium-to-large capacity systems with mid-DN globe valves
  • Retrofit replacement of older Satchwell / TAC M800A actuators on VB-7xxx / VB-9313 valves
  • Compatibility: Schneider V241 DN25-DN100 2-way, V311, V321 3-way DN25-DN80. Legacy VB-7xxx — with AV-821 adaptor; VB-9313 DN65-DN100 — with AV-822 adaptor.

Frequently asked questions

How does the M800 differ from the M400?

By two key parameters: force 800 vs 400 N and stroke up to 52 vs 32 mm. M800 is intended for larger DN valves (DN40+) and valves with high Δp at the control point. Electronic control module, housing and configurability are identical.

How does runtime depend on stroke?

The M800 has 3 auto-selected speed steps: 15 s (stroke 9-25 mm), 20 s (25-32 mm) and 30 s (32-52 mm). The selection is automatic based on the auto-calibrated stroke length — no manual configuration required.

Does the M800 have a spring return (fail-safe)?

No — 8800310030 is a non-spring return model. The valve stays at its last position on power loss. If fail-safe is required, choose M800-S1 (spring-open) or M800-S2 (spring-closed) variants.

What transformer size does the M800 need?

Manufacturer-recommended 50 VA transformer per M800 actuator. For a group of 2-3 actuators — a 100 VA transformer with headroom. Inrush current is significant, so the transformer size matters more than for the M400 (7 VA continuous draw).

Does the M800 fit Satchwell VB-9313 DN80 valves?

Yes — with the AV-822 adaptor kit (Schneider F-27702). This kit is specifically designed to mount an M800A / M800 onto older VB-9313 DN65-DN100 globe valves in retrofit projects where the valve is kept and only the actuation is upgraded to SpaceLogic BMS.
