Where LM230A is used
LM230A is Belimo's small-format standard-class actuator for small air dampers: zonal shut-off, room supply control, buffer smoke exhaust dampers, constant air volume (CAV) dampers. Chosen when on/off or 3-point control is sufficient (no proportional position needed) and 230 V is available.
Compared to the SM230A (20 Nm), it targets ~1 m² dampers (vs ~4 m²). The universal shaft adapter handles 10-20 mm round or square shafts. It includes a manual override button — useful during commissioning or diagnostics.

What is the difference between LM230A and SM230A?
Torque and damper area: LM230A = 5 Nm, ~1 m²; SM230A = 20 Nm, ~4 m². Other properties (150 s runtime, IP54, on/off or 3-point, 230 V) are the same. Pick LM230A for small dampers, SM230A for medium.
What is the manual override button?
A push-button on the housing mechanically disengages the motor from the shaft — you can turn the damper by hand to any position (e.g. during commissioning or fault diagnosis). Release the button and the motor re-engages, resuming BMS commands.
Any mounting orientation allowed?
Yes. IP54 applies in any mounting position (shaft up, down, sideways). The only limit — no direct rain and no continuous moisture (not suited for outdoor use without an enclosure).
Does it require periodic maintenance?
No. Belimo actuators are lubrication-free and sealed. In practice, service is only needed if mechanical noise appears or the actuator no longer overcomes damper resistance — then the whole unit is replaced.
Can LM230A accept a 0-10 V signal?
No. LM230A supports only on/off or 3-point control. For proportional 0-10 V positioning use LM24A-SR (24 V) — similar mechanical footprint with proportional control.
