The efficiency of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems depends directly on precise flow control, which is provided by top-quality actuators and valves. In our range you will find reliable components from Danfoss and other leading manufacturers such as Siemens, Ouman, Oventrop or Herz, guaranteeing long-lasting operation. For complex solutions these devices are often combined with smart Grundfos pumps, creating a maximally energy-efficient and smoothly running engineering network.
In modern systems electric actuators play an essential role - they respond promptly to automation signals and change position, thereby precisely optimising the heat transfer medium flow. The most popular are Danfoss AMV (3-point control) and AME (analogue 0-10V) series actuators. To ensure even heat distribution, two-way or three-way control valves (VS 2, VZ, VF and VFS series) are installed together with them. This technological tandem avoids wasting energy, maintains a constant room temperature and prolongs the service life of all the heating equipment.
Every heat substation or boiler house must meet strict safety standards, so safety valves are a critical element that protects pipelines and equipment from dangerous pressure surges. Thermostatic valves (Danfoss RA, Herz, Oventrop), meanwhile, respond independently to temperature changes, limiting the hot water supply and preventing the system from overheating. Correctly calibrated, these mechanisms not only guarantee operational safety but also contribute directly to the overall hydraulic balance of the system.
Mistakes in selecting fittings can lead to system noise, uneven heating or rapid wear of components. The main parameters:
Actuator prices depend on the series, closing force and signal type. In doubt about the technical specifications? Contact our engineers - we will carry out calculations for your project and coordinate the assembly of the control unit.
Although quality Danfoss automation is durable, improper operation can shorten its service life. The most common faults: scaling of the valve stem due to untreated heat transfer medium, overheating of the electric actuator motor due to jamming, and "fatigue" of the return spring. Regular filter cleaning greatly reduces the likelihood of these risks. For comprehensive process control it is worth getting to know HVAC automation.
Can a Danfoss AMV electric actuator work alone, without a valve?
No, the actuator is only the operating mechanism. For the system to work it needs a compatible control valve (VS, VZ, VF series), whose stem the actuator will push or pull, thereby controlling the physical flow.
When should I choose a 3-point AMV and when an analogue AME actuator?
AMV (3-point) suits simpler systems where the temperature changes slowly (domestic hot water, basic heating). AME (analogue 0-10V) is needed where exceptionally fast, smooth and proportional flow control is required (air handling unit heating coils, precise process applications).
Can an actuator be installed pointing downwards?
No - most manufacturers recommend installing electric actuators horizontally or vertically upwards. Installing downwards is not recommended because, if a leak occurs, the heat transfer medium can get into the actuator electronics and cause a short circuit.
